Encouraging Positive Development
At SMILES Childcare Centre, we believe in nurturing children’s development by fostering pro-social behavior and creating a secure environment where they can learn and grow. Our approach emphasizes positive strategies to guide children towards making responsible choices. We encourage kids to:
- Focus on positive, preventative strategies
- Teaching and rewarding desired behaviors
- Clear limits and boundaries
- Guidance methods include calming time, redirection, limited choice, and natural consequences
Prohibited:
- Physical punishment, restraint, isolation, or degradation
- Persistent issues addressed in partnership with families

Limitations
While we strive for full inclusion, we may not be able to accommodate children whose behaviors pose a safety risk. All resources will be explored before making any decisions regarding the case

Nourishing Meals for Growing Kids
Menu Variety & Options
Weekly menus are posted and feature allergen-aware choices. Culturally diverse food choices are offered for children to experience a variety of flavours, textures, and types of foods.
Nutritious Meals & Snacks
We provide breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack daily, all meeting Health Canada’s Food Guide standards. Children are encouraged to taste each menu item, but at no time a child is forced to eat or drink.
Hydration
Families must provide a reusable water bottle daily; children will have access to water throughout the day. We offer milk at meals and do not provide juice or sweetened beverages, promoting healthy hydration habits.
Allergies and Dietary Restrictions
We can accommodate most dietary needs or restrictions of children regardless of the reason, including vegetarian, vegan/plant-based, or halal, as well as allergen-aware meals.
